LIVING THINGS AND THIER ENVIRONMENTS
DEAR FIRST GRADE PARENTS:
We have begun Chapter Three: Living Things and Their Environments. After completing this chapter, your child will know that plants and animals need air, water, food and space. Your child will also learn how to differentiate between nonliving and living things, that plants and animals live in different kinds of land and water environments, and that some plants and animals are extinct.
Within this chapter your child will learn and use these vocabulary words: DESERT, NONLIVING, ENVIRONMENT, NUTRIENTS, EXTINCT, OCEAN, FOREST, PRAIRIE, FOSSIL, SHELTER, LIVING, WETLAND and NEED.
Help your child make these words a part of their vocabulary by using them when you talk together about the living things and their environment.
Thank you for all your encouragement.
